Decorated Clear Glass Christmas Ornaments Using Sparkling Floral Picks ~ A simple inexpensive Christmas craft for making gorgeous Christmas ornaments!
Are you looking for a very simple, inexpensive and quick Christmas craft? This one literally takes ten minutes to complete. Since it is so quick you can make several at a time. It is also very easy to make with children!
I love the clear glass ornaments available in craft stores. I have made it a tradition to design a new decorating idea each year using clear glass ornaments. Last year I designed and shared…
This design was very well received and turned out to be one of my most popular posts!
This year I made decorated clear glass Christmas ornaments using sparkling floral picks. After making several I showed them to my daughters and they both gave the thumbs up with a “that is really pretty Mom” approval rating!
I used sparkling floral picks that resembled fern leaves. I bought them in several colours at Michaels on a ‘buy one get one free’ sale. Before buying this type of floral pick I made sure it was easy to cut and able to bend. This is important so you can gently insert it inside the clear glass ornament.
Here is how to make…
Decorated Clear Glass Christmas Ornaments Using Sparkling Floral Picks
Materials Per Ornament
- clear glass Christmas ornament
- floral pick
- sharp scissors
- small metal skewer
- narrow ribbon
Cut the stem off the floral pick. Then cut the floral pick apart into 3 or 4 large pieces with sharp scissors.
Remove the top of the clear glass Christmas ornament. Fold the floral pieces in half and insert one at a time into the ornament. After each piece is inserted use a small metal skewer to gently arrange them evenly inside.
Replace the top on the clear glass Christmas ornament. Tie a narrow ribbon in a coordinating or matching colour around the top.
Final comments: I chose a sparkly floral pick to decorate my clear glass ornaments because I love how they will sparkle on our Christmas tree. But you can also use any other Christmas themed floral pick to create a different look. Just remember to make sure it is easy to cut and easy to bend.
This is a very quick Christmas craft to make. It is perfect if you are busy and want to squeeze in some Christmas crafting time. It is also perfect to make with children! What took the time was looking for the perfect floral picks in the craft store since there were so many pretty ones to choose from.
Your turn: Which colour is your favourite? Would you go for a sparkling look or a natural look?
