Gorgeous Spring Decorated Outdoor Lantern ~ Transform a basic outdoor lantern into a spring decor porch accessory with boxwood garland and a big white bow!
It is already the beginning of March and spring will officially be here in a few weeks. So far it has been a very mild winter where I live. We usually have much chillier temperatures and much more snow. It may look like spring is just around the corner but we can easily have a good dose of winter even as late as the month of April. I will let you know on the blog if that happens. I still have my snowbrush in the car just in case.
I bought a large outdoor lantern on sale last fall. It is black and has a battery operated candle inside that automatically turns on and off six hours later. It is a great addition to the front porch because it adds more lighting. But as you can see it is a pretty basic plain looking lantern.
I have had some fun decorating it for the different seasons. I decorated it for fall and I have to admit My Fall Decorated Outdoor Lantern turned out beautifully with just a dollar store purchase. I also made it into a Christmas Decorated Outdoor Lantern and it looked very pretty.
I wanted to decorate it for the spring season but was not sure how and I did not want to spend a lot of money. Inspiration struck and I am sharing it with you today! I used a 50% off coupon to buy a six-foot garland at Michaels. It was very easy to arrange the garland inside the lantern around the candle.
I had the white sheer wired edge ribbon in my ribbon stash so it was nice to use it up. I love making big bows and adding them to my various Craft & DIY Projects.
I have a method that I developed that makes a gorgeous bow every time. I have shared this method with step-by-step photo instructions several times in other blog posts on Time With Thea. You can see all of the variations and get the instructions at:
The white Gerbera Daisies you see attached to the bow were leftover from a Grapevine Heart Shaped Wreath I made for the front door. This post also has a detailed bow making tutorial showing you how to make the perfect bow!

It looks really pretty during the day…
…and just as pretty at night when the candle is shining.
The whole project took about 10 minutes to make! I took a plain black outdoor lantern and turned it into a gorgeous spring decorated outdoor lantern.
