Time With Thea Most Popular 2015 Posts ~ A review of the top ten blog posts in 2015 on Time With Thea. Storage, planning, DIY, and gardening ideas proved to be the most popular categories!
There are many reasons why I enjoy blogging. I love coming up with the idea as well as bringing the idea to life for others to learn from and be inspired by. After writing the draft, taking and editing the photographs, uploading the content to the blog site and making sure everything is ready to go there is one final task that I get a lot of satisfaction from and that is hitting the ‘publish’ button.
After I hit the ‘publish’ button the blog post goes out into Internet land and is available for the most part to an unknown audience to visit and read. I have no idea how exceptionally popular or not as popular each post will be and it is this unknown that I find fascinating. I have learned to plan for the unexpected with whatever and whenever for each post.
Since I started blogging I have written some posts that have consistently held the position of being in the top ten since they were published. I have also written posts that are a couple of years old and only have had moderate interest when first published. However some of these posts have suddenly and unexpectedly become very popular on the blog thanks to loads of sharing on social media. I have also shared posts that have become very popular very quickly in a very short time frame. Again, it is these unexpected and unpredictable outcomes that make blogging so much fun.
Although I don’t know personally and specifically who my readers are I do know what my readers like. I do know what kind of posts bring return and new readers to Time With Thea. I tend to write about a variety of ideas that according to my tagline contribute to “organizing, beautifying and inspiring your life”. Any topics I share on this blog are things that I know about and things that I like to do. Time With Thea is a reflection of “What you see is what you get”. There is nothing staged or contrived. Everything is real. Everything is part of my day-to-day life.
So what types of blog posts are the most popular on Time With Thea? It is the blog posts that are solutions to problems. It is my how-to posts where I share how to do things that I like to do or know how to do. It is the blog posts where I share my passion for how to be organized and planned.
Allow me to introduce to you starting with #10 and ending with the most popular…
Time With Thea Most Popular 2015 Posts
This is a recent post that became very popular very quickly. It was featured on Hometalk several times and was very well received. The inspiration for this idea came from my daughter’s best friend Erica who designed and created a similar kind of glass ornament as a thank you gift for the guests who attended her December wedding. I share some of Erica’s wedding highlights in Hand Stamped Silver Forks Wedding Gift.
I love to plan and be planned. In this post I share my tips for how I use my day planner to keep me organized.
I have purchased and tried unsuccessfully all kinds of commercial day planners. I found that I had to adjust my planning according to how the store bought planner was designed. So I created my own day planner that fits my planning needs. The best part is that it is a perpetual planner. It is super inexpensive because it is just made of a small binder, lined paper, a few dividers and plastic pockets. Even though it is very simple to make and use it is a very effective planning tool. This post is also a top hit on Google and it was featured on Hometalk.
I came up with the idea for making my own drawer organizers because I was frustrated. I did not like the type or the price of drawer organizers that were available to purchase so I designed and made my own. These were so easy to make, work perfectly in the kitchen junk drawer and the best part is that they were super inexpensive. I guess other people thought so too because this post is #7 this year and has been featured many times on Fave Quilts.
I love coming up with ideas for making all kinds of bows. In this post I provide an easy to follow step-by-step photo tutorial showing how to make gorgeous big bows using deco mesh, wire edge ribbon and bead garland. I am thrilled to say this post has been quite popular on Google!
I wrote this blog post a couple of years ago and ever since it gains a lot of popularity as we get closer to the Christmas season. This is another step-by-step photo tutorial showing how to easily make gorgeous big bows using wire edge ribbon. My bloggy friend Heather from New House New Home has used and referenced this tutorial several times when she is creating a DIY project that requires a bow. Thanks Heather for the recommendations!
I love coming up with storage ideas that are functional, attractive and inexpensive. In this post I share my ideas for how to store craft supplies. Thanks to Hometalk and Huffington Post for liking these ideas too and featuring this post.
I am both surprised and honoured at the same time that this post was the third most popular in 2015. I am surprised because I wrote it a couple of years ago to which it was received with a moderate level of interest. Then in the spring of this year it really took off and consistently became one of the most popular blog posts on a daily basis throughout the rest of the spring and into the summer season. I guess a lot of people have the same problem we had with grass damaged by dog urine. I am honoured because I also share a very personal story about a very special dog that we did not choose to have as a pet but rather chose us to have as a family.
This is a post that I wrote a few years ago and it has steadily been in one of the top positions ever since. It is also a post that I wrote out of frustration and trying to solve a problem. Apparently many other Pinterest lovers shared the same frustration I had and wanted to learn how to move their pins from one board to another on Pinterest. I provide a step-by-step tutorial that makes it really easy to do. Interestingly I had to do a total rewrite on this blog post earlier this year because Pinterest completely changed how pins can be moved. Thankfully it is now a lot easier compared to the early days.
Now this blog post is a pleasant surprise that it was the most popular post for 2015. This is one of those posts I previously mentioned that you never know whatever and whenever will gain popularity. I actually wrote this one a couple of years ago and it had a moderate level of interest. Then somehow it became exceptionally and exponentially popular at the beginning of the summer and stayed in the #1 spot until the snow started to fly in November. It is surprises like this that I find so fascinating about being a blogger! I am thrilled that so many people were interested in this very simple watering tip!
Final Comments: So what is planned for next year? I have plans to share lots more about things that I know and things that I enjoy. As the tagline states my goal is to “organize, beautify and inspire your life”. I want to thank you dear readers for allowing me to do so and taking the time to spend some Time With Thea!
