Gorgeous Quick Fall Vase Filler ~ Create an inexpensive vase with fall fillers perfect for a fireplace mantel in 2 minutes!
When I woke up this morning the river valley where I live was all covered in fog. Looking up at the hills the trees have already started to turn. It is a kaleidoscope of different greens from the tall evergreen trees as well as yellows, oranges with a bit of red sprinkled in. Unfortunately I also woke up to a skiff of snow on the rooftops. Nothing stuck to the ground and will be all melted when the sun clears away the fog later this morning. I don’t mind the fog but it is way to early for the snow.
Fall has definitely arrived here outdoors. I’ll be working later in the garden getting it ready for the winter. I am also having a bit of fun doing some decorating in the house. I already shared the Fall Hydrangea Pumpkin Wreath that I made to go above the fireplace mantle in the living room. I am now working on decorating the rest of the mantel and will be sharing some of the crafty projects I have made over the next few weeks. When everything is completed I’ll do the reveal and give you a tour of how the entire mantel is decorated.
Decorating for fall is a fun thing to do but it does take some time. This gorgeous quick fall vase filler is exactly that…. super quick and super easy to do! There is no gluing, sewing, nailing to do. It literally can be whipped up in about two minutes. Here is how to make a …
Gorgeous Quick Fall Vase Filler
- tall cylinder glass vase
- 1 package of silk fall leaves
- tall twigs or branches
Position the silk fall leaves inside the glass vase as pictured. Place enough leaves along the inside glass to about halfway up.
Insert the twigs or branches being careful not to move the leaves around too much.
Finish adding the leaves till you reach the top.
Done. I actually made two identical ones for each side of the mantel.
This is the left side…
… and this is the right side.
Final Comments: As you can see we have a deep burgundy painted feature wall in the living room. The dark paint colour really works with the lighter coloured fireplace and mantel. I was a bit worried that the dark brown twigs would not show up against the burgundy wall but it actually looks pretty good.
Not only was this DIY project super quick, but it was also super inexpensive. The tall cylinder glass vases were purchased at the dollar store. I picked up the branches at the grocery store last Christmas and I am reusing them. The silk fall leaves were bought at Michaels for $2.00 each. Having fun decorating for a season does not have to be expensive and complicated.
