Fall Decorated Outdoor Lantern ~ Decorate a basic black outdoor lantern for your front porch with inexpensive fall and berry garlands from the dollar store!
Every year I like to decorate the front porch for fall and every year I like to add something new. I wanted a basic black outdoor lantern for quite some time now. But I wanted one that was on the larger side and would light up every night on a timer. I also did not want to pay a lot of money for it either. I must have looked for a couple of years. There were a lot of choices but many were too tall small, too ornate, too expensive and did not come with an automatic light. There are a lot of choices but many were too tall small, not black enough, too expensive and did not come with a light. Sometimes I felt like Goldilocks in The Three Bears.
I was in Home Depot last month and they were clearing out some outdoor lanterns. Ta-Da! I finally found exactly what I was looking for!
The lantern is pretty basic but I thought it had a lot of potential to decorate it for the fall season. This is what I did and it took 2-minutes to create a…
Fall Decorated Outdoor Lantern
I picked up two fall leaf and berry garlands at the dollar store for $1.00 each. I loosely placed one inside the lantern around the candle.
The second one I inserted through the ring at the top and draped it over the outside of the lantern. Another… Ta-Da!
This fall decorated outdoor lantern is a perfect addition to the front porch. Here you see it with the double fall wreath that I made a few years ago and hang it on the front door every fall. The wreath may look really complicated to make but I provide a very detailed tutorial with photos for each step showing you How To Make A Fall Double Wreath – The Instructions.
I also like to pick up a couple of Fall Mums. Where I live we already have had some frost warnings so I have to a sheet over top of the flowers before I go to bed every night. If you like to buy Fall Mums like I do you will want to read Watering Outdoor Fall Mums So They Last. I have a trick that really works.
The candle in this outdoor lantern has a battery operated LED light. It is also has a built in timer that was really easy to set. It comes on at 6:00 p.m. and automatically turns off at midnight.
The fall garland with its orange, yellow and red leaves inside and outside the fall decorated outdoor lantern really create a gorgeous vibrant light on the front porch every evening.
Final Comments: It is fun to decorate outdoors for the fall season but it can be expensive. I try to add something new every year and wait till I find exactly what I am looking for without paying too much. I also keep an eye out for items in the thrift store and the dollar store. I am just waiting for the large pumpkins to be available so I can add a couple to the front porch. When everything is finished I’ll be sharing in a future post very soon how the entire front porch looks decorated for the fall season.
