Healthy 3-Ingredient Green Salad Dressing ~ Three healthy ingredients combined make a fresh tasting easy to prepare dressing for a basic green salad.
Are you looking for a healthy alternative to mass-produced bottled salad dressings? I have a favourite dressing that goes perfectly on a green salad!
I like to buy different kinds of bagged or clam shell green salads and add my own extra vegetables and fruits to make it an even healthier tasty salad. My favourite add-ons are chopped tomatoes, cucumbers or red and green peppers. I also like to add a fruit like chopped strawberries, mangoes or blueberries.
This healthy 3-ingredient green salad dressing goes perfectly with the added vegetables and fruits combined with any type of salad greens. The avocado oil has a nice smooth buttery flavour. The freshly squeezed lemon juice adds a tangy sweet flavour. The sea salt gives it a salty savoury flavour. When combined this dressing has a nice balance of flavour variety!
I also prefer this healthy 3-ingredient green salad dressing because it is filled with nutrition goodness. It is not low calories because the avocado oil has 130 calories in tablespoon. But the avocado oil is filled with healthy calories. It has no trans fat, sodium or cholesterol, which are not good for the body. However it is loaded with monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats as well as is an excellent source of Vitamin E, which are all good for the body. The freshly squeezed lemon juice only adds another 4 calories per tablespoon.
Avocado oil is a high-heat cooking oil so it can also be used in different types of cooking methods without the fear of it burning. It can be when broiling, barbecuing, searing, roasting and even when stir-frying. Avocado oil is equally tasty in cooked foods and in fresh salads!
Avocado oil is a bit pricey to buy. It can be found in grocery stores and healthy food markets. I buy mine in 1 liter (33.8 FL. OZ) bottle at Costco. It is best stored at room temperature and seems to have a pretty good shelf life. We use avocado oil a lot so I have never had the experience of it going bad. So let’s find out how I take this basic green salad…
…to a whole new flavour and nutritional level with these three ingredients!
How To Prepare Healthy 3-Ingredient Green Salad Dressing
For one serving drizzle 1 tablespoon of avocado oil on the salad and gently toss. Shake sea salt to taste over the combined green salad and avocado oil and gently toss. Lastly, add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and give your salad a final gentle toss.
That is it! The order is important for how the ingredients are added. The reason for adding the oil first is so the sea salt can adhere to the now oiled salad greens. I do recommend using freshly squeezed lemon juice because it adds a fabulous fresh taste. But I have made it with bottled lemon juice and it is a good option as a timesaver and when I have no fresh lemons.
Here is the Olivado website (not sponsored) I found that has some pretty good information about avocado oil if you want to find out more information about this food product.
