Pretty Blue Bedroom With White And Pink Bedscaping
I have to admit I picked out the paint colour. It wasn’t my daughter’s first pick at first but after everything else was added to the room she seemed to be more accepting of it. The paint colour is Glace Bay from the Benjamin Moore Designer Collection. I have always liked blue for a bedroom and this one creates an almost dreamy tone.
We bought the white bedding as a ‘bed in a bag’ package at Home Sense for about $100.00. I love comforters, pillow shams and accent cushions that have a design to them so if it gets a bit wrinkled you don’t notice too much because it almost looks like it’s part of the design. If you look carefully this bedding almost has a vintage look to it with the really pretty raised floral scroll pattern that is part of the fabric. I guess that’s the practical side of me!
You will notice the bed doesn’t have a headboard and that was an intentional choice. We decided just to find a coordinating art canvas to hang over the bed and I have to admit the blue sky background and pink flowers tie all of the colours together beautifully. I’m not partial to headboards because they take up a little more room in a small bedroom and you don’t really see it if you have already decorated the bed with a collection of pretty pillow shams and accent cushions. Again, I guess that’s the practical side of me.
I wanted to show the dresser and bookcase in this bedroom. You may recognize it as being from IKEA. Boy this furniture lasts a long time and seems to be timeless. We bought these pieces for our daughter when she was a little girl and they still work well now that she is an adult. I love the accent pieces she chose to put on top of her dresser.
I also love how her IKEA Billy bookcase is a collection of new and old as well as earlier times and the present. She has saved and showcased some of her things from when she was little like her most special stuffed animals on the top shelf, her Beatrix Potter book collection and some of the crafts she made at school. It’s also a reflection of the present because it houses some of her favourite most recent books and photographs. The door you see slides open to a walk-in closet.
Here’s a pink fabric memo board she picked up at Wal-Mart holding some positive motivators. The bright pink fabric adds a nice splash of colour.
I love this photograph collage showing my daughter with friends from her high school and undergraduate university days. She’s the one in the pink gown in the top photographs and the blue top in the bottom two photographs. Can you tell that pink is one of her favourite colours?
This pretty blue bedroom with the pink and white bedscaping actually sits empty because our daughter is now living in Australia studying in medical school. Her career goal is to become a medical doctor and she’s almost there. She does get home for about six weeks a year to the family, her home and her bedroom that we have kept decorated for her.
I also had fun shopping for and decorating her bedroom in Australia as a university student. Interestingly, there was no pink or blue. The Apple Doesn’t Fall Far From The Apple Tree tells you about this experience and what her colour choice was for this bedroom!
In the meantime this is the view I get every time I walk past the open door. It’s a pretty nice place to take a peek everyday!
Thanks so much for letting me share this pretty blue bedroom with white and pink bedscaping belonging to my daughter!
By the way, I do have another daughter and I’ll be sharing her bedroom sometime in the future. Be prepared for a totally different look but equally fabulous!
