Shamrock Vanilla Milkshake ~ This is my tasty version of a Shamrock Vanilla Milkshake. The vanilla flavour comes from vanilla ice cream, vanilla flavouring and vanilla protein powder!
When I worked as a teacher I used to bring in my blender, ice cream, milk and some food colouring for St. Patrick’s Day so the students and I could enjoy a small green shamrock shake. This was a very basic version and I have since updated this recipe so we can make it and enjoy it at home.
I love this Shamrock Vanilla Milkshake because it has just the right amount of sweetness and bursts with a vanilla flavour. The vanilla taste comes from four ingredients including vanilla ice cream, vanilla almond milk, vanilla flavoured protein powder and natural vanilla.
The green colour can be a little science experiment with the kids by making it with blue and yellow food colouring. Just add enough of each colour to get the perfect shade of your green shamrock vanilla milkshake! What I like to do is reserve about a tablespoon of the almond milk and mix it separately with the food colouring before I add it to the milkshake.
This doesn’t make a super thick milkshake so it’s easy to drink. Also, this recipe makes just over one 8-ounce (250 ml) serving. I like to watch the calories a bit so I don’t top it off with whip cream. Just shake some sprinkles of green crystal sugar to make it into a really special drink for St. Patrick’s Day!
