Listo: Easy App For Making Lists ~ As you know I like to be organized and part of being organized is making lists for various things in my life. Lists are handy to maintain because they help track things and take away having to remember everything, hence decluttering the brain a little bit. I figure we have enough to juggle between work, family, home and play that being planned and making lists just makes life a little bit more manageable.
I’ve previously written that I usually prefer to work with a day planner in print form. Interestingly, this post titled How to Organize Your Day Planner is becoming quite popular. I have tried going completely digital but I found I was missing things and frankly, spending too much time in the digital world. I now use the digital version as my back-up.
I also have been trying several different apps that I get for free through the app Apps Gone Free that I wrote about in the blog titled A Free App that Showcases Quality Free Apps. Whenever there is an organizing or planning app being offered I download and check it out. This is how I found the app Listo!
The more I have been trying out apps, the more I have become selective about what I am looking for. First of all, except for the app Evernote I stay away from apps that make me register in order to use them. I can’t be bothered coming up with and remembering another password and I prefer not to add on an extra thing in my life for me to organize just so I can be more organized. I also don’t like apps that take me too long to figure out just to use because they are too complicated. I like to go by the theory “Less is more!” whenever possible.
When I gave the app Listo a try, it was immediately super easy and fun to use. I now use it to make lists when I am waiting for an appointment or if I need to make a list that needs to be emailed to someone else. This is how it works:
This is what the page looks like when you open the app. Just click Add List… and type in the name of the list title. Each new list will automatically be added in alphabetical order making it easy to locate.
If you want to delete a list, click the – (minus) sign located at the top the My Lists next to the + sign. A red circle with a – sign will show up in front of each list title. Click on the circle of the list you want to delete and a DELETE button will show up. I think you know what to do next!
When you want to add items into your lists just click on the list and once the list is open click on where it says Add item… and this is what shows up:
Type in the word and click on the green check mark or Done on the keyboard. If you change your mind just click the red X to delete it.
Notice the numbered circle after each list in the My Lists column. This shows how many items you have in each list.
If you want to delete an item(s) from your lists all you have to do is swipe you finger across the item and a red stroke will appear. Click on the green – (minus sign) located in the upper right hand corner and a little window appears asking if you want to Remove the item. I think you know what to do next!
This app even allows you to change the order of the items you have added in the list. Click on the little green box showing two arrows going different directions. Three horizontal lines will show up on the right side of each task. Click on the lines of the item you want to move and drag it into its new position. When you are done click on the check mark in the upper right hand corner.
I mentioned earlier that I like to use this app when I have to make a list and email it or text it to someone else. The next photo shows how easy that is to do too!
The other things I really like about this app is as long as you turn on iCloud Sharing, your lists instantly and automatically synch between all of your IOS devices. You can turn this feature on by clicking on the cute little cloud in the upper right hand corner.
So that is how to use the app Listo. I also really like how it looks because it is very basic without a lot of what I call ‘fluff’ or in other words extra features to confuse the user.
As I come across more organizing and planning apps that I really like and have used successfully for a while, I will let you know. In the meantime, If you have an app that you really like, I would love to hear about it!
Thanks for the visit!
