Creating a Thankfulness Photo Album ~ As I sit writing this blog in my studio/craft room/office at my desk in front of my desk top computer sipping a warm cup of tea in a warm house I am feeling very thankful and grateful for these simple pleasures and so many other things that I have in my life.
Yet, on the other side of North America there are families whose lives and their basic needs been challenged because of the aftermath left from Hurricane Sandy.
November is traditionally the time that my American neighbours (I know we Canadians spell some words differently) celebrate Thanksgiving and so it is a fitting time to think about the millions of Americans who were affected by Hurricane Sandy and give thanks for what the rest of us are fortunate to have in other parts of the world.
The family turkey dinner with all of the fixings is the most common way that families gather together to give thanks. But what are some other ways that thankfulness can be recognized even if it isn’t Thanksgiving?
I love creating photo albums for different themes and one fabulous theme is ‘Thankfulness‘!
In my last blog Why I Love My Apple TV I share how to to stream photographs from albums created in iPhoto and play music we have made into different playlists in iTunes.
Now before I go on, if Apple TV isn’t a direction you want to go, there are other options that are quite doable. You can create the same theme with photographs and display them in a ‘Thankfulness’ photo album or on a digital photo frame.
If you are working with iPhoto, just create a New Album and name it ‘Thankfulness’. Now go through your photo collection and drag and drop any photographs that represent the things that you are thankful for. This might also be a time to get out the camera and click lots of new photographs with this theme in mind! Get input from every family member to create a comprehensive and diverse collection of thankfulness examples!
I have also created title images that you are welcome to use.
Instructions For Creating A Thankfulness Photo Album (Digitally)…
- One at a time, place your mouse over each text image.
- Click the right click button on your mouse and then click Save Image As naming it the same name as the title slide. It should be saved as a jpg image.
- Once all of the text images have been saved, drag and drop them into iPhoto.
Then drag and drop them it into your ‘Thankfulness’ album.
- Afterwards you can manually move your photographs and title images by clicking View at the top bar in iPhoto, which will produce a drop down menu. Scroll down to Sort and click on Manually. Simply move your pictures by dragging and dropping them between the two images where you want them to go. But don’t spend to much time on putting your photographs in a specific order because Apple TV will randomly stream them in a creative collage format.
These title images will add a special touch to your ‘Thankfulness’ slide show on Apple TV, a digital photo frame or your collection in a photo album!
Now when you are having your traditional turkey dinner with family and friends or you are just relaxing at home, won’t it be a wonderful reminder of all of the people, things and memories that you are so thankful for?
I would love to hear what other ideas you have for creating and sharing a thankfulness photo album!
In this blog I share a Thankfulness Song Playlist to go with your digital thankfulness photo album…
